SPORTS SHORTS: Trojans lead locals at BCLUW Co-Ed

CONRAD — West Marshall placed three teams in the top-seven at the BCLUW Co-Ed golf tournament on Tuesday, but the Trojans’ No. 1 pairing came up one stroke off the pace.

West Marshall’s Emma Stanley and Joey Tollefson took second place in Tuesday’s event at Oakwood Golf Course, shooting a 45 to trail only the 44 posted by Roland-Story’s Kaitlyn Rahfeldt and Steven Behrends. BCLUW’s Sydney Anderson and Ray Callaway came away with third place thanks to a combined 46.

West Marshall’s Kalyn Polley and Will Dawley finished in fifth place with their 47, and the Trojan tandem of Ella Meyer and Luke Vawter shot 48 for seventh place.

BCLUW’s Lindsay Beeghly and Mason Martin finished as placewinners, taking 11th with a 50.

East Marshall’s top pairing on the day was Kennedy Boliver and Seth Freese, who took 13th after a card-back to miss medaling by one spot.

Mustangs, Rebels split golf triangular

REINBECK — East Marshall’s boys and Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s girls won Monday’s triangular meet at Oak Leaf Country Club, while Colo-NESCO did not factor into the team scoring.

East Marshall’s boys swept the hardware in the win, scoring a 209 to G-R’s 244. Seth Freese was meet medalist with an 11-over-par 46, while Ethan Espenscheid was second with a 50. Colton Robinson (56) and Ethan Lamb (57) contributed to the Mustangs’ final score.

Host Gladbrook-Reinbeck was led by Kadyn Schick’s 57 and Isaac Baer’s 58.

The Rebel girls escaped with a one-stroke victory, 273-274. East Marshall’s Camy Weeks and Kennedy Boliver tied for the low round at 60, but the Mustangs missed out on the team win.

G-R was led by Maia McLean’s 64 and Paige Creswell’s 65.
