FORT DODGE — The Marshalltown girls’ golf team closed the CIML Iowa Conference season undefeated, finishing off its 5-0 mark with a walloping of Fort Dodge on Tuesday to claim the division crown.

The Bobcats blasted the Dodgers 165-230 at Fort Dodge Country Club behind junior Amber Henson’s medalist round of 2-under-par 33, as all four Marshalltown golfers finished ahead of their Fort Dodge counterparts.

“Winning the conference was one of our main team goals this year,” said MHS head coach Lucas Johnson. “To end our conference duals schedule undefeated is a great accomplishment that shows the ability to play consistently throughout the season.”

Bobcat junior Norah Wilson earned runner-up medalist honors after shooting the same round of 43 as senior Kyra Feldman, but a cardback broke the tie for second place. Brynn Van Buren’s 46 completed the team scoring for MHS, which only had four golfers competing because of the spring show choir.

“We knew playing with the minimum four golfers that every shot was going to count,” Johnson said. “I was impressed with how the girls played relaxed but focused golf. Taking that same approach as we head down the closing stretch of the season is going to go a long way in helping the team achieve even more of its goals.”

The Bobcats go to the Southeast Polk Invitational on Thursday with a 9 a.m. tee time at Copper Creek Golf Club in Pleasant Hill.
