Meyer leads West Marshall girls at Heart of Iowa meet

STATE CENTER — The West Marshall girls’ golf team served as hosts of the Heart of Iowa Conference meet in its first season back in the league and narrowly missed out on third place on Wednesday at Lincoln Valley Golf Course.

The host Trojans tallied a 411 team total, trailing South Hamilton by one stroke for the third spot in the final team standings. Roland-Story was a runaway winner (369), followed by Nevada (405), South Hamilton (410) and West Marshall in the top half of the seven-team tournament.

Ella Meyer led the Trojans with her medalwinning performance of 96, placing sixth individually. Emma Stanley shot a 102 for 10th place, Kalyn Polley shot a 103 for 12th, and Madeline Karsjen carded a 110 for 20th.

Roland-Story shot three of the four lowest scores, led by medalist Kaitlyn Rahfeldt’s 84 and runner-up Makenna Carlson’s 88.
