Tyynismaa leads way for STC girls; Trojan boys qualify in four events

JoJo Tyynismaa qualified for state track and field in four different events, it was confirmed Friday afternoon by the IGHSAU.

The junior runner was an at-large qualifier in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.01 and a 10th seed. In the 200 dash, Tyynismaa had the 19th-seeded time at 26.94. She had the second-best qualifying time in Class 3A in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.57, and the 17th-best time in the 400 hurdles at 1:10.1.

Emma Harwick qualified in the high jump for the Trojans, reaching 4 feet, 10 inches, and earning the 24th and final spot in the event.

On the boys’ side, Trusten Rosenberger earned an at-large as the 19th seed in the 800 run with a time of 2:04.22. The Trojans also qualified the 4×800 relay as the 20th seed, running a 8:29.32.

In the field events, Payton Vest made the show as the seventh seed in the long jump. Vest had a best leap of 20 feet, 9 1/2 inches. Eli Keahna snuck into the shot put finals as the 22nd seed, throwing a best of 48-2 1/2.
