Marshalltown’s Toe tabbed for all-CIML Iowa first team
The Marshalltown boys’ soccer team finished in a three-way tie for second place in the CIML Iowa Conference but was granted just one first-team all-conference selection in a vote among the league’s coaches.
Bobcat junior Richard Toe, who was the team’s second-leading scorer in conference play and leading point-getter overall, was Marshalltown’s lone representative on the all-CIML Iowa first team as a utility pick. Toe had four goals and two assists in conference play, and was the team’s overall scoring leader with 15 goals and three assists for 33 points.
Conference champion Ankeny Centennial, which went 5-0 in divisional play, picked up six first-team honorees. Ankeny honored four first-teamers, while Ames had a pair of players picked to the first team. Marshalltown, Ankeny and Ames all finished 3-2 in CIML Iowa action.
Bobcat senior defenseman Noah Hermanson made his way onto the all-conference second team. Hermanson represented the last line of Marshalltown’s defense.
Marshalltown’s honorable mention selections were seniors Max Gantz, Mario Meraz, Ismael Segovia and Ernesto Tellez, junior Gael Rincon and sophomore Alejandro Hernandez.
