SPORTS SHORTS: Mustangs hang with No. 2 Roland-Story

STORY CITY — The East Marshall baseball team played stride-for-stride with Class 2A No. 2 Roland-Story on Tuesday night, but the host Norsemen emerged with a 3-1 victory in the non-conference clash.

East Marshall pitchers Connor Kriegal and Colton Robinson combined to keep the Norsemen (9-2) within striking distance, as Kriegal allowed one run and three hits over 3 2/3 innings while walking four and striking out four. Robinson allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits over 2 1/3 frames.

The Mustangs (3-5) managed just four hits in the loss, as Logan Bowie’s double drove home Landon Elliott as their lone run in the top of the sixth. Dane Thompson, Bowie and Robinson each singled.

Parker helps Comets beat back Bolts

BEAMAN — Grant Parker struck out 10 in a complete-game pitching performance to help the BCLUW baseball team beat Baxter 7-3 in a non-conference tilt Tuesday.

Parker walked just one and scattered nine hits for the win. Offensively he was supported by 10 hits from the Comets (2-5), who broke open a 3-all game with two runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth.

Colton Keller had three hits, including a double, an RBI and three runs scored, while Noah Gallentine had a single, a triple and an RBI. Tucker Wall had an RBI single, Nick Feldpausch had a two-run double, and Walker Ashton had an RBI single. Ray Callaway contributed a single and a double to the Comets’ triumph over Baxter (1-8).
