IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa women’s basketball team defeated Nebraska for the second time this season with a 93-83 win inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday, overcoming a 16-point deficit in the process.

It marked the largest comeback win by the Hawkeyes this season and it was fueled by a 31-for-34 performance from the free-throw line and Caitlin Clark’s third triple-double of the year.

“We’re a great free-throw shooting team, and we got there very early,” said Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder. “When you have that opportunity to get to the line, we have to take it, we have to draw fouls. Caitlin drew 10 fouls today. That’s a lot, and she’s not bad at the line.”

Monika Czinano and Clark scored 31 points apiece. Clark’s fourth career triple-double included 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Kate Martin finished with nine points and seven rebounds, and McKenna Warnock chipped in eight points and eight boards.

The Hawkeyes (10-4, 4-1 Big Ten) trailed 30-14 after the opening quarter before outscoring the Cornhuskers 27-12 in the second.

Down just one at halftime, Iowa overtook Nebraska on a 3-pointer by Gabbie Marshall to end the third quarter and never trailed again.

Clark scored 13 of Iowa’s 26 points in the fourth quarter, going 5-for-5 at the line, to finish off the team’s sixth consecutive win over Nebraska (13-4, 2-4). The sophomore Clark has scored at least 30 points in each of her four games against Nebraska.

The Hawkeyes travel to Minneapolis on Thursday to take on Minnesota in a 7 p.m. game televised on the Big Ten Network.
