CEDAR FALLS — Northern Iowa offensive lineman Erik Sorensen became the first Panther of the 2022 season to earn Player of the Week honors from the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

Sorensen helped provide pass protection for UNI’s 334 yards through the air against North Dakota, including a 72-yard pass play from Theo Day to Deion McShane. Both marks lead the MVFC so far this fall.

Sorensen was part of the starting line that led to 9.8 yards per play at North Dakota, the leading average in the league.

UNI finished with 449 yards of total offense in its 29-27 loss to the Hawks.
