Bobcats boys open spring season at Waukee Northwest

WAUKEE — The Marshalltown boys’ track and field team opened the season with 10 top-10 finishes at the Waukee Northwest Invite on Friday.

Anthoneih Kopsa led the Bobcats on the track with a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 53.91 seconds, while Kunian Kuany came in fifth in the shot put (41 feet) to lead MHS in the field events.

Caleb Rasmussen finished the 3,200-meter run in 11 minutes, 53.88 seconds to pick up seventh place, and teammate Ian Meyer was eighth in 11:54.56.

Carson Wright collected eighth-place points in the 800 with a time of 2:26.36.

Kopsa was joined in the 400 by Gatleel Joar, who finished in ninth place in 58.25. Kuany charted a ninth-place finish in the discus (115 feet), and Carter Hunt came in ninth in the long jump (18 feet, 3 1/2 inches).

Salvador Ruiz turned in a final time of 1:05.65 to place ninth in the 100 high hurdles. Dalen Huston took 10th in the 100 (12.22).
