Marshalltown Community College sophomore Isneydy De La Rosa has signed to play volleyball at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, an NCAA Division II program, to continue her athletic and academic career.
De La Rosa played in 150 sets in her MCC volleyball career, compiling 423 kills for an average of 2.82 kills per set. She also accumulated 511 digs (3.4 dps) on her way to being named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference honorable mention all-region and second-team academic all-region in her sophomore campaign.
“I really enjoyed visiting the campus,” De La Rosa said of UAM. “I really like the positivity of the coaching staff as well as the girls on the team. I will also be going into health and physical education as my major and they have a great program.”
The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native ranked fifth in the ICCAC in kills per set this past fall.
“Isneydy has worked extremely hard for this opportunity, not only on but off the court,” said MCC head volleyball coach Chris Brees. “Coming to MCC, Isneydy stepped off the plane knowing literally a few words in English. She has shown her work ethic when a year and a half later she is now pretty fluent speaking.”
De La Rosa has been a resident assistant within MCC’s student housing and also joined the basketball team for the 2022-23 campaign.
“I’m excited and proud of Isneydy,” said Brees. “This is a great opportunity for her. UAM is in a tough conference, but she is well equipped and ready to step in and help lead her new teammates.”
