BIG FOUR: Cyclones handle Wildcats on the road

CINCINNATI — The Iowa State women’s basketball team led from wire-to-wire in a 72-52 win over Cincinnati in Wednesday’s Big 12 game at Fifth Third Arena.
The Cyclones used an 8-0 run midway through the first period to take control early, and their lead never dwindled below six the rest of the game.
Iowa State (16-9, 7-5) got double-digit scoring from three players, led by Audi Crooks with 18. Arianna Jackson, a sophomore guard from Grinnell, made four 3-pointers on her way to matching her career-high with 17 points.
Kelsey Joens chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds, and Addy Brown finished with nine points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Emily Ryan added eight points and four assists, moving into 11th all-time in NCAA women’s basketball with 937 career assists.
Cincinnati (13-8, 5-6) was led by Reagan Jackson with 15 points and Jillian Hayes with 12.
UNI 66, Missouri St. 61
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Jacob Hutson and Trey Campbell each scored 20 points to help Northern Iowa defeat Missouri State 66-61 on Wednesday night.
Hutson added six rebounds for the Panthers (15-9, 9-4 Missouri Valley Conference). Campbell went 7 of 14 (4 for 9 from 3-point range). Ben Schwieger shot 3 for 9 (1 for 3 from 3-point range) and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line to finish with 12 points.
Vincent Brady II and Michael Osei-Bonsu each scored 13 points to lead the Bears (8-16, 1-12). Dez White also had 12 points.
Campbell put up 11 points in the first half for Northern Iowa, which led 34-30 at the break. Northern Iowa pulled off the victory after a 7-0 second-half run broke a 47-47 tie and gave them the lead at 54-47 with 10:04 remaining in the half. Hutson scored 12 second-half points.
