The East Marshall volleyball team hasn’t won an NICL West Division match since 2018, but the Mustangs still found themselves represented on the season-ending all-conference squad.

East Marshall junior setter Mya Gould was her team’s lone all-conference selection after leading the Mustangs in assists this season.

Gould finished fifth in the NICL West by averaging 4.8 assists per set during league play, and she also ranked ninth in the division with 2.4 digs per set.

It’s the first all-conference honor for Gould, who chipped in 30 kills this season. She also ranked ninth in the NICL West with a 94.7 percent serving efficiency during league play, which led the Mustangs. Gould was 36-for-38 with one ace.

Grundy Center’s 6-foot-8 middle hitter Ryanne Brubaker was named the NICL West’s Player of the Year, while Spartan head coach Lori Willis was voted the Coach of the Year.

Brubaker and Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s Kennedy Brant and Elly Sieh were all repeat selections to the all-conference first team.
