Bobcat boys light the lanes at Fort Dodge

The Marshalltown boys’ bowling team looks every bit the condender it intends to be.

The Bobcats rolled their highest team score in nearly seven years, drubbing Fort Dodge in an Iowa Alliance Conference dual meet on Monday at the Family Bowling Center, 3,437-2,629.

It’s the first win of the young season for the veteran Bobcats (1-1, 1-1), who saw three bowlers rack up career-high series in an absolute domination of the Dodgers (0-2, 0-2). It marked Marshalltown’s highest team score since rolling a 3,466 against Fort Dodge on Dec. 18, 2018.

Aiden Cowan led all bowlers with a 267-257–524 series — his career-best — and Carter McCready followed with a 258-229–487. The 258 marked the best game of his Bobcat career, as did the 487 series.

Jayden Beichley rolled 207-266–473 for his career-high game and series, followed by a 203-210–413 for Gage Grieves and a 190-221–411 for Porter Niedermann. The 221 is Niedermann’s career-high game as a Bobcat, too.

Marshalltown totaled 2,308 after individual play to outscore Fort Dodge by 517 pins, and then the Bobcats crushed the Baker games for a five-set total of 1,129 that included games of 259 and 258.

On the girls’ side, Marshalltown improved to 2-1 with a 1,876-1,671 victory over Fort Dodge.

The Bobcats (2-1, 2-0) were led by a career-high 378 series by Camillya Thomas, who rolled 177-201. Her 201 second game was just three pins shy of her career-high.

Aubrey Webber totaled a 127-117–244 for the Bobcats, followed by Ariana Villagomez with a 122-106–228. Bailey Damman (131-79–210) and Ray Massa (82-86–168) rounded out Marshalltown’s individual scoring.

The Bobcats led by 85 pins after individual play and picked up another 120 pins during Baker games.

Marshalltown returns home for its next dual, hosting Ottumwa on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Wayward Social.

Starting at $4.38/week.
