STATE CENTER — The West Marshall boys’ basketball team blanked Iowa Falls-Alden in the opening quarter of an eventual 54-35 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden in Monday’s season-opening game for both squads.

The host Trojans (1-0) jumped out to a 12-0 lead after the first quarter and pulled away from there.

Beckham DeSotel scored a game-high 14 points to pace West Marshall, while Evan Siegert and Teegun Edler added 10 points apiece. Connor Kemmerer added eight points and Ryder Gile finished with seven.

Collin Pieper led Iowa Falls-Alden with 13 and Karsen Kalous had 11 more for the Cadets.
