Court — Thursday

• Kevin Kyle Kroeger made an initial appearance on a pre-trial release violation charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. Pre-trial release was revoked an a bond of $300 cash or surety was instated. Marshon Dubbert will continue as counsel. On the theft-fifth degree charge, the public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The bond is set at $300 cash or surety. A pre-trial conference for both of these charges is set at 9:30 a.m. on July 31 in Magistrate Court.

• Elizabeth Andrade, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference charge. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 in District Associate Court with a jury trial scheduled at 9 a.m. on Aug. 15. Andrade was released on her promise to appear.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, a car driven by Carlos Garcia Ordaz, 18, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on East Main Street at the intersection with 18th Avenue in the outside right turn only lane when it proceeded forward sideswiping a car driven by Ryan Wade Purdy, 41, of Marshalltown which was also eastbound in the inside lane. No injuries were reported. Garcia Ordaz was cited for failure to obey traffic control device and Purdy was cited for operation without registration card or plate. Damage to the Purdy car was estimated at $1,500 while the Garcia Ordaz car received an estimated $2,500 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a car driven by Nancy Anson Stone, 88, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on West State Street stopped at the intersection with North Third Avenue when she proceeded forward and collided with a car driven by a 17-year-old male from Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s car was estimated at $3,000 while the Stone car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

Incidents

• On Friday, a theft resulting from a burglary was reported in the 500 block of West Main Street in State Center.

• On Friday, a burglary resulting in vandalism to property valued between $1,000 – $10,000 was reported in the City of Gilman.

• On Friday, an incident of theft was reported in the 900 block of Third Avenue SW in State Center.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Jonathan Lealand Ferguson, 34, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended, no valid driver’s license, no insurance and driving while barred-habitual offender.
