West End Perk, the latest addition to the 13th Street District of Marshalltown, caters to early morning diners, the lunch rush and coffee lovers.

Located at 231 N. 13th Street, West End Perk is currently the only eatery in the district. Since opening its doors in late October, it has already started building a loyal clientele.

“We’ve been really busy,” said manager Tania Weuve whose mother Traci Weuve owns the establishment. “We already have some loyal customers who come in every morning. We like to see returning faces.”

The eatery is open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. The breakfast menu includes croissants, wraps, bagels and oatmeal, plus a variety of baked goods including muffins, scones, homemade bread pudding and cinnamon and caramel rolls.

Lunchtime diners can choose from a variety of sandwiches and wraps, including the signature house chicken salad, plus salads. A kids menu is also offered. Freshly brewed coffee is available, plus specialty drinks, espresso, frappe, cappuccino and smoothies.

“My mom has a passion for coffee and experience cooking and making coffee drinks,” Weuve said. “We first started renovating the building in mid-July, and it was a long process getting it ready to open.”

The 13th Street District Committee was thrilled to see an eatery added to the area.

“West End Perk gets the 13th Street District one step closer to creating a vibrant neighborhood that offers a community gathering place for all,” said committee member Denise Ulery. “The atmosphere is fun and eclectic. A good business is like fascinating art; we welcome and encourage you all to experience something new today at a place where history and the future intertwine.”

Delivery is available for orders of six or more. The eatery may be reached at 641-328-1673.
