Marshall County Sheriff’s Office investigating alleged assault and suicide

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office is investigating an alleged assault of a woman by a Boone County truck driver followed by his reported suicide, said Marshall County Sheriff Steve Hoffman.
"At 9:04 a.m. today (Friday) our office received a call from a trucking company owner who reported one of his drivers was suicidal," said Hoffman. "One minute later, we received a call from a woman who said she had been held against her will and assaulted by a truck driver. She also claimed the driver committed suicide."
On Friday morning, a flat-bed truck was parked on the Highway 30 exit 179 westbound ramp with law enforcement vehicles parked nearby and uniformed personnel on scene. The ramp was closed to traffic.
"We are checking evidence to determine what exactly happened and when," said Hoffman, adding the driver and the alleged victim had no known ties to Marshall County. "The investigation is continuing."
