VanGundy rejoins UnityPoint Health emergency dept.

UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown has announced Dr. Lance VanGundy return to the hospital’s Emergency Department Oct. 1.

“We are excited to have Dr. VanGundy as a part of our Marshalltown team again,” said Dustin Wright, president of UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. “Dr. VanGundy brings extensive knowledge and experience caring for ER patients in the Marshalltown community and in this hospital. His return will support our efforts to improve our ER patient’s experience as well as improve the overall quality of patient care.”

VanGundy, a graduate of the University of Iowa – Carver College of Medicine, began his career in family medicine after completing his residency at the Mercy Health Center-North Iowa in Mason City. In 1999, VanGundy began working as an emergency room physician in Marshalltown, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, formerly Central Iowa Healthcare, and now UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. VanGundy worked in the Emergency Department for 17 years. In 2016, Dr. VanGundy began employment with Broadlawn’s Medical Center in Des Moines. VanGundy is an emergency medicine board certified ER physician through the American Board of Physician Specialties.
