• Michael Douglas Horrell made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver charge, a possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense-marijuana charge, a possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense-tramadol charge, a keeping a premises for the purpose of selling or using controlled substances charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 12. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Paul Francis Werner made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge and a public intoxication charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled by the District Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only. A ne no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Travis Lee Gummert made an initial appearance on a trespass charge. Gummert pleaded guilty and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $455, due within 30 days.

• Marquis Shaquille Haynes made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-second offense-marijuana charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 22. Haynes is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 48 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Simeon Ndagijimana, of Cedar Rapids, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a driving under suspension charge and a speeding charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 22. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Tricia Linn Cartee made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree-enhanced charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 22. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Donald Gene Hall made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 22. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Joel Bakafuela Dubilo made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Dubilo pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Fernando Hernandez Martinez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Hernandez Martinez pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Maria Guadalupe Torres De Patlan made an initial appearance on a unlawful passing of a school bus charge. Torres De Patlan pleaded guilty and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330, due within 30 days.

• George Gomez made an initial appearance on two counts of a sex offender registry violation-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 22. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Denise Marie Means made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Means is being held on no bond.

• Hannah Gott made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge. Gott pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 in Magistrate Court.

• Kyle Duncan made an initial appearance on a permitting an unauthorized person to drive charge. Duncan pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 in Magistrate Court.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, George Gomez, 20, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Paul Werner, 60, was arrested for public intoxication-first offense and violation of a no-contact order.

• On Tuesday, Travis Gummert, 33, was arrested for trespass.

• On Tuesday, Marquis Haynes, 19, was arrested for possession of marijuana-second offense.
