Recently the Marshalltown High School Class of 1971 donated funds to the Historical Society of Marshall County, inspired to give back after the July 19 tornado. The class started a GoFundMe page, with the intent of raising $1,971, and ended up securing $4,700. Wanting to donate the money to a particular entity instead of a general fund, the Historical Society was selected as the beneficiary. Funds will go to maintain the organization's historical preservation efforts.
