The Marshall County Crime Stoppers are offering a $1,000 reward for any information on missing teen Corey Brown.

What we know about the investigation

– Corey is 13 years old, 98 pounds, 5 feet tall and has brown hair.

– Corey was last seen in the area of Jackie Terrace at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday. That night his parents had a “normal parental discussion” with him, Marshalltown Police Chief Mike Tupper said. When his parents, Michelle and Craig Brown, woke up at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, they found out Corey was not in his bedroom. Security camera footage showed him walking away from the home late Tuesday night.

– He was wearing a red shirt, black pants and grey shoes with a lime green Nike logo. His coat is black and lime green and matches his Seattle Seahawks stocking cap. He does not have his cell phone.

– Since Corey went missing, the temperatures have been sub-zero at times, with intense winds. It snowed about four inches Tuesday night.

– Local authorities began their search early Wednesday and asked for the public’s assistance locating Corey.

– By Wednesday afternoon more than 200 people had gathered at St. Henry Catholic Church in Marshalltown to help search for him. The police called off volunteer help with the search. Tupper said they didn’t want anyone else getting hurt while searching and the public could hinder the authorities’ efforts.

– On Thursday morning, the police asked all property owners to search their properties for signs of Corey.

– During the day Thursday, concerned residents put up fliers all over town and various businesses, like grocery stores, handed them out to patrons.

– Tupper said the authorities have done extensive outdoor searching, including searching some bodies of water. There is no evidence to suggest suspicious activity. The police have received several tips, but none have turned up anything so far.

– Michelle, Craig and their older son Sammy issued a public statement at a press conference Thursday evening. They pleaded for Corey to come home. “Please, please just come home. We want you safe at home. We love you so much,” Michelle said. “Parents, if this was your child, you’d want them home too … get Corey home to us please.”

An eighth-grader at Miller Middle School, Corey is known as a bright and friendly kid. He runs cross-country, volunteers at his church and wears a smile almost everywhere he goes.

Marshalltown police officials are urging anyone with information that could help find Corey to call 641-754-5725. Residents and business owners are also advised to search their properties thoroughly for signs of Corey.
