A lively place
The 17th Annual Grimes Farm Run … A Walk in the Park was held on the usual second Saturday in July. It was a beautiful morning enjoyed by many families and competitive runners as well. Proceeds of the race will go toward the Leonard Grimes Memorial Amphitheater to begin construction later this summer.
The Leonard Grimes Amphitheater will be a wonderful feature for Marshall County. The design includes a three-tiered limestone structure on the northwest side of the building. It will be complete with wiring for lights and sound making it a lovely venue for weddings, dramas, programs and musical events.

The Grimes Farm Run … A Walk in the Park would not be possible without the faithful help of many, many volunteers. We are grateful for these energetic people willing to give up a lovely Saturday morning … and in some cases, many more hours of trail clearing, planning, budgeting, grocery shopping and keeping track of all those runners.
Anyone who thinks Marshalltown is not a vibrant, growing community should visit the Grimes Farm and check out the children exploring the nature playscape, the active people on the bike trail, families enjoying the Story Walk and classes being offered by the staff of the Marshall County Conservation Board. It is a lively place!
