Three Marshalltown residents lost their lives in separate deadly car accidents Wednesday morning and Tuesday night.
The first accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, when 72-year-old Terry Stubbs crashed his motorcycle. He was traveling westbound on Highway 30, just east of Marshalltown.
The Iowa State Patrol crash report stated Stubbs passed multiple vehicles and crashed after hitting the gravel shoulder. He was transported to the hospital where he died.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Office said Stubbs was not impaired, and no helmet was worn.
The second accident on Tuesday occurred around 8:15 p.m. when John St. Clair, 59, crashed while driving westbound on Luray Road, southwest of Marshalltown.
The Iowa State Patrol crash report stated the vehicle crashed after "failing to negotiate a curve," and then rolled several times, landing on its top in a farm field.
One passenger, Rickie Horney, 63. was injured in the crash and was transported by an air ambulance to an out of town hospital. Seat belts were worn by both occupants of the vehicle.
The investigation into the St. Clair accident is ongoing.
Marion County officials identified 23-year-old Marshalltown resident Lino Rivera-Reyes as the man who was killed Wednesday at around 5:30 a.m. in an accident on the Mile Long Bridge over Lake Red Rock.
Shortly after, attempts were made to save Rivera-Reyes but they were unsuccessful as Rivera-Reyes was trapped in the car and pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports.
In the Iowa State Patrol accident report, Rivera-Reyes was driving southbound on the bridge when his vehicle crossed over the centerline, into the northbound lane and crashed into a semi-truck head-on. The semi driver, James McElvain, 62, was evaluated at the scene but did not receive any further medical treatment.
The accident report stated Rivera-Reyes was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which is under investigation.
