Marshalltown High School baseball pitcher Jimmy Six struck out 14 batters to start the double header against Ames and Jordan Alley, not to out-gunned, fanned 14 in the nightcap as the Bobcats won 5-1 and 9-6.

The SEMCO baseball team took a 6-5 win over LDF in Ta-Ma-Ja Conference action as Matt Kopsa went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in four runs.

The No. 9 ranked GMG baseball team closed out its regular season with a 10-7 victory over Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock as they pounded out 12 hits with Matt Jackson belting a two-run homer.

West Marshall’s all-state pitcher Cindy Freese threw a perfect game in the 10-0 shutout over Johnston as she faced 15 batters in five inning striking out six and walking none.

The Bobcat girls got two victories in the Nevada Tournament defeating Madrid 7-0 and Newton 1-0 as Erin McElroy pickup up both wins getting 12 hits from her offense in the Madrid game as Ellen Thompson went 4-for-4 and scored two runs.

BCL girls dumped the Green Mountain Mounties 9-3 as Linda Whannel provided the big hit of the night with a two-run triple in the six-run, sixth inning.

BCLUW boys broke open a Mustang-friendly ballgame with a seven-run fifth inning on its way to a 12-2 win over East Marshall as Shane Krause, Austin Krause, Nick Hutchens and Nick Crawford finished with two hits each led by Crawford’s three RBIs.

Brian Williams, 13, tested for his 1st degree blackbelt at Iowa State University which consisted of numerous hand and foot techniques along with several board breaks and Korean terminology.

MHS baseball team swept Ottumwa 11-2 and 3-2 as T.J. Flanagan led the offense in the first game going 3-for-4 with a double and Flanagan, Cole Grewell and Jacob Whaley each singled in the second game to lead at the plate.

First place finishes by Ben Cox, Travis Eygabroad and Bob Zednichek at the Iowa State Hershey Track & Field Meet saw Cox, 11-12 division, win the 100 meter and 400 meter dash and standing long jump; Eygabroad, 11-12 division, the 200 meter dash and softball throw and Zednichek, 13-14 division, the 200 meter dash.
