The No. 7 ranked MHS girls volleyball squad upended the No. 1 Sioux City Heelen team 16-14, 15-9, 4-15 and 15-10 in the first round at the state tournament as Amy Trowbridge and Julie Schutt were 19-for-19 serving and Sara Eads and Trowbridge led with 14 kills each.

Members of the national-qualifying MHS quiz bowl team: Laura Weber, Andrew Metzger, Philip Kuhlman and Nick Heiserman practiced to ready themselves for the National Championship in Chicago.

The MHS girls hoisted the Class 3A championship trophy high after beating Clinton 15-6, 15-6 and 15-9 in the state volleyball tournament as Rebecca Albert was named the captain of the 3A team.
