Jane Hitchings and Alva Smith were married on July 28, 1967 at the Le Grand Friends Church. They celebrated with their family earlier this month when their children were all in the area.

Children of the Smiths are: Tim Smith, of Fort Dodge; Trina (Daryn) Ottenbreit, Alberta, Canada; Dan (Beth) Smith, of Oskaloosa; Jeremy (Jodi) Smith, of Fort Ashby, W.Va.; and Andy (Liz) Smith, of Fort Ashby, W.Va. The Smiths have also been blessed with 16 grandchildren.
