Thanksgiving traditions at Crosswinds Toastmasters Club
The Crosswinds Toastmasters Club met at Marshalltown Community College on Wednesday with President David Arnold presiding. Arnold presented Leah Cox the Triple Crown award 2014-15. Cox achieved six education awards in a single program year. The group welcomed four guests.
Melissa Niesen, Toastmaster of the Day, introduced speaker Arnold who presented a speech titled “My Tiny Mentor.” He relayed to us how you can learn from babies. How an 18-month child can be very tactical in their actions and how we, as parents, need to be tactical too. He had a lot of humorous stories about his little girl. Cyndi Barber led the Table Topics using the theme of Thanksgiving. Members had two minutes to tell about their Thanksgiving traditions. Cox gave the speech evaluation and the timers report. Niesen reported two members used the Word of the Day, ‘Capitulate.’ George Trent enlightened us as the ah-counter and grammarian. The meeting concluded with a joke from Trent.
There will be no meeting the week of Thanksgiving. Toastmasters will resume on Dec. 2.
