Degner presents program at Quilt Sew-ciety

Local quilter/artist Helen Degner recently presented a demo of art quilting at the May guild meeting of the Central Iowa Quilt Sew-ciety. Degner delighted the group with her collection of quilts and multi – media creations.

A new board of directors will start its year at the next meeting where President Rosanne Anderson will lead the group with Vice-president Gloria DeBower, Treasurer Leslie Renaud, Secretary Mary Hazelwood, Program director Julie McNair, program at large Deb Kerr, hospitality Dorothy Sleege and hospitality at large Amy Drummer.

Nineteen persons attended the Blanket party at the Marshalltown library where nine weighted blankets were assembled for Sharing the Weight for autistic kids. Small groups have been meeting monthly.

The CIQS meets the second Tuesday of each month at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1011 S. Third Ave., at 6 p.m.

On June 7, Patti Peterson will present “Color My Quilting World” with members trying out fabric colors on custom blocks designed and printed at the Block Party Studio from Nevada. Persons interested in any type of quilting from novice to professional are encouraged to attend guild meetings where membership is $25 per year.
