Conrad Auxiliary honor member for service
CONRAD — On behalf of the Conrad American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 681, Laura Wanken presented Rose Shine with a quilt on April 24 for her dedication of service. Shine has been a member of the Conrad American Legion Auxiliary for 48 years.
She spent a few years in the Peace Corps, first assigned to St. Vincent. She served seven years as a nursing home inspector, with the Department of Inspection and Appeals and 13 years for Red Cross. St. Thomas was her first assignment.
Some of her most notable assignments were working after the Parkersburg tornado and 9/11 in New York City. Rose’s last assignment was in 2008 Texas which experienced devastation during the tornado outbreak.
