Kiwanis P.M. hears about Project 52

Kenny Lamb called the regular meeting of the 7 p.m. Kiwanis to order at Legends. As president he introduced the guest speaker Bill Clark representing Project 52 and guest Laura Thomas.

Project 52 is a non-profit organization that plants seeds of hope in several ways. Most familiar to us is planting a tree in memory of a loved one on your personal property, park or church. Since its inception in 2009 they have planted 300 trees in several states. By visiting www.treees@p52.org you can nominate an honoree for a tree and Project 52 will send information to the family that includes a certificate that advises them of who nominated them.

Project 52 also has partnered with the Light House Project in the Dominican Republic to build homes, a baseball field, a gym and are presently working on a medical clinic in a remote village in the Republic. All which provide clean water and sanitation for the recipients. They also support a home for recovering drug users in Sioux Falls, S.D., The Branch, provides a low rent room for those recovering to get a new start.

None of these things are inexpensive for more information about Project 52 and how it has affected others visit www.info@p52.org.

Ted Kallestad informed the club that Nov. 22 would be the scheduled day to ring bells for the Salvation Army. On Nov. 23, Kiwanis P.M. will be helping with the Pancake breakfast at the Salvation Army.

The next meeting will be a board meeting at Pizza Ranch.
