Sigma Master Chapter celebrates Thanksgiving

Sigma Master Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi met Nov. 12 at Glenwood Place for lunch with eight members present, one guest and nine absent including the hostess Diane Hobson who had made the arrangement of the meeting earlier.

Alice Nicholson, secretary/treasurer, opened the meeting thanking those who came on such a snowy blustery day. Roll call was taken with question: “What are your plans for Thanksgiving?” Barb Noid read the minutes from the last meeting and gave the Treasurer’s report with no change.

Health report was given by Dorothy Perry as to all the absent members and their problems in hopes all will be attending next month. Phone call from absent member Joyce Roddan, of Toledo, stating their move to Johnston had been made. Plans were made regarding her transfer from our chapter for the December meeting in hopes she attends.

With Bonnie Speas, vice president absent, there was no communication from International. The “sisterhood project” was discussed with very little information as to the club’s contribution to the Iowa Veteran’s Home, as to what the other chapters are giving, so a motion was made by Jan Keller, second by Perry to table the decision for giving until the next meeting.

Perry had a Get well card for all to sign to be sent to former member Mary Landis in Texas as she has returned home after hospitalization with rare diagnosis. Hobson had provided a game for the entertainment: “Thanksgiving History Crossword ” that all enjoyed.

The next meeting will be at Glenwood Place with Anne Fiscus and Arlene Benson hosting in their home on Dec. 10. It was voted to have a “dozen cookie” gift exchange at that time.
