Schoolhouse for Sewers at Central Iowa Sewing Guild from 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 18 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 102 Lynwood Drive in Huxley will feature multiple mini-lessons on sewing topics. Learn about inserting a zipper in a knit garment, using fusible stabilizing tapes, applying stretch piping, shortening a separating zipper, using readily available materials, altering a sewing pattern to fit rounded neck/shoulders (increasingly common due to posture changes related to computer, phone and sewing time), attaching and placing snap fasteners and a demo on locker hooking. The kids are back in school and you can be too. This meeting will also include show and tell and a free table.
