On March 1, Elks from across Iowa got up early and headed to the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in downtown Des Moines. Elks helped man the phone banks taking donation pledges from family, friends and callers across the state and nation, There was even a pledge from California. Last year they accepted pledges in the amount of $5,812. In addition, the Iowa Elks Association did a similar donation; accepting a Double Miracle Pledge of $104 from each Lodge. This year, the Iowa Elks Association did similar and the Variety Club of Iowa was presented a check in the amount of $5,000 by State President Elect Bob Burns of Iowa Falls Lodge #1674.
