Sigma Master discusses State Convention

Sigma Master Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi met for lunch at El Portal on March 10.

President Caralee Hutchens thanked LaVonne Pollard for hosting. Ten members, two guests answered to roll call with the question: “Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?” Five members were marked as absent. All members were given the time to speak about their joys and sorrows as many do observe the “wearing of the green” with brisket or having a green beer.

Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, along with the Treasurer’s report all given by Alice Nicholson. Hutchens brought up previous minutes of the September 2019 stating information about the State Convention Project.

It was indicated that the club would contribute to the project if the Nu Beta Chapter, State Center won their request for donations to the “Wings of Refuge,” Iowa Falls, to be awarded at the 2020 State Convention. As the winner for that project it was voted to participate and with an additional amount given by Jan Keller, the chapter will be sending $100.

Sigma Master will await to hear from Tonja Gerke, State Center, as to where the money should be sent. At this time no one has committed to attend the State Convention on the Mighty Mississippi River June 26.

Plans are being made for Founder’s Day on April 14 and with no news from International the meeting for March 24 to be held with Bonnie Speas hosting was announced.
