Marshalltown’s award-winning public speaking club, Crosswinds Toastmasters, held its head up high on March 7 in Fort Dodge with notable victories during both the Area International Speech Contest and the Area Speech Evaluation Contest at the Iowa Central Community College. Crosswinds took first place in the Area 22 Evaluation Contest, won by President Charlie Harris. Jade McCoy, second place winner of the Area International Speech Contest. The top three winners of the Toastmasters Area International Speech Contest are from left: third place, Harris; second place, McCoy, Crosswinds secretary and treasurer and first place, Matthew Chavers, Shibboleth. Crosswinds Toastmasters meets every Thursday at noon in the Hellberg’s Jewelers building on Main Street.
