VFW Auxiliary holds July meeting
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Post 839 met on July 16 at the post home. The meeting started at 6 p.m. with 11 members present.
Connie Kennelley, president, conducted the meeting according to the ritual and the Pledge of Allegiance was spoken.
The minutes were read from the previous meeting on June 18; corrections were made and approved. Doris Lemker, gave the treasurer’s report and a motion was made by Delores Clayton to accept the treasurer’s report pending audit, seconded by Liz Polkiewicz, motion carried.
Communications report was given by Linda Fuller. June’s minutes, a picture of newly elected officers and a picture of 30+ years of service members was in the TR.
No coupons, stamps or volunteer hours were reported.
Correspondence presented: General Orders, The Puppy Jake Foundation, thank you card from Lemker and card of appreciation from the family of Jeanne Wolken-Orstad.
The Money March was conducted and a prayer was said for the VFW National Home for Children.
The Charter was draped in memory of Wolken-Orstad who went to her Heavenly Home on June 21.
A discussion was held on the need for snack items at the Iowa Veteran’s Home. A motion was made by Carol Ewalt to give $200 for the snacks, the motion was seconded by Donna Mitchem and the motion carried.
The meeting closed according to ritual.
The next auxiliary meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Aug. 20. Prospective members are encouraged to attend.
