Liscomb Auxiliary has many activities planned

The Liscomb Legion Auxiliary Unit 87 met July 27 at the Union Public Library. There were five members present. President Sharon Hatch called the meeting to order. Chaplain Dorothy Sorensen gave opening devotions. The Pledge of Allegiance and Auxiliary Preamble were recited. A moment of silence was observed for MIA/POW and deceased veterans.

An election of officers was held, and all previous holders carried. The Marshall County Fall Conference will be held in Beaman on Sept. 18. The Union Tar Heel Parade on Saturday will honor Dorothy Sorenson who has been in the Auxiliary for more than 62 years. She will ride in the president’s car.

A discussion was held regarding the Nov. 11 Veterans Day program and lunch at the Liscomb Community Center. The unit plans to buy a brick at the Union Library for the walk area out front. Liscomb Legion Auxiliary Unit 87 will be engraved on the brick.

The National Auxiliary Convention will be held in Phoenix Aug. 27 to Sept. 2. A discussion was held on treat bags for BCLUW Middle School staff and teachers. There will be no August meeting. The next meeting will be Sept. 7 at Hatch’s home in Whitten.

Hatch read to conclude the meeting — “The Gift of Friendship,” “My Favorite Recipe” and the “Anti-Depression Kit.”
