Beta Sigma Phi decide on November project
Sigma Master Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi met for lunch at Dairy Queen, South Center Street, on Oct. 26 with nine members and two guests present. Roll call was taken by host Alice Nicholson with the question: “Who do you want to win the World Series?” and the Braves was unanimous. Apparently, all are National team lovers.
President Diane Hobson opened the meeting with health reports and welcomed LaVonne Pollard present after a long absence, now being a happy resident of The Willows.
The service project for November was a long discussion about helping those in need of food in the community. Motion was made by Caralee Hutchens, second by Jan Keller to contribute to the food pantries located at the Hope United Methodist Church and the Marshall County AG ISU Extension Office. It was noted that baby food was definitely wanted, but that fresh fruit could cause problems. Hutchens also indicated that blankets, new and cleanly used could be brought to the church for the needy. Continue saving stamps and pull tabs.
At the close of the meeting, a pair of Halloween socks were presented to Jackie Fiscus with the winning number wishing all a Happy Halloween by the host.
With Thanksgiving in November, only one meeting will be held on Nov. 9 at Mama DiGrados hosted by Elaine Fiscus.
