Liscomb Legion Auxiliary discusses fall events

LISCOMB — Liscomb Legion Auxiliary Unit 87 met on Oct. 12 at the Union Public Library after a dinner at the Sunshine Cafe in Eldora hosted by President Sharon Hatch. Five ladies were present. Hatch called the meeting to order. Chaplain Dorothy Sorensen gave the devotions followed by the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, Auxiliary Preamble and a moment of silence for deceased veterans and MIA/POW.

The September minutes were read and approved.

The Unit is invited to Boo at the Barn in Swisher for Miracles in Motion from noon to 1 p.m. and 1p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 23.

Discussion was held bout the Nov. 11 Veterans Day Program at the Liscomb Community Center. Unit 87 will provide a light lunch following the program.

Hatch reported that Pat Williams, Third District and Marshall County president had to resign due to health issues. Sandy Sallon is Third District president for two years and JoAnn Klein is Marshall County president.

Hatch and Candy Wait attended the Third District Fall Conference at Radcliffe on Oct. 2. Unit 87 took the cedar school house for donations to Meritt Award program. They gave out 14 applications to Auxiliary Unites to take to local schools. The Unit bought new pins for the Auxiliary, they have a pair of boots in a field of poppies with the emblem in the right corner. Cost of the pin is $4.

The president wants ideas for decorating a hat with poppies for the Auxiliary Winter Conference.

The chaplain gave closing prayer. Sorensen had a reading “A Wild Pig Ride.”

The next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Union Library.
