Sarah Benscoter, Bev Hatcher and Susan Hibbs are new members of Iowa ET of the National TTT Society; they were initiated recently when the chapter met at the First Presbyterian Church. A Welcoming Social Time followed the initiation, with refreshments served by Bonnie Bradbury and Meradean Gifford.
Lisa Dougall, treasurer, gave the monthly the treasurer’s report and presented the 2021-22 budget, which was approved. Members discussed the Camper Follow-up Buddy Program and liaison contacts for 2021-22 are Melody Bennett at Marshalltown High School, Sarah Benscoter at Miller Middle School, and Karen Mussig at Lenihan Middle School.
Thank you notes were sent by the chapter to people who helped with the Oktemberfest Parade. Among those were Bill Wilson, Marty Mitchell, Ashly Wiegand, Natalie Chaplin, Jim Mosher and family, Angie Schultz-Whelan and Kevin Whelan and Dr. Nathan Rand. President Deb Nuss passed around pictures of the float jointly sponsored by Iowa ET and Iowa FR, which was in the parade, for those who weren’t able to be there or to help with it.
It was announced that Ashly Wiegand, Iowa ET’s current scholarship recipient, had been renewed for her fall semester at Iowa Lakes Community College, Fort Dodge. There are currently two MHS seniors who are former ET campers who are eligible for TTT scholarship assistance next fall.
Two major fundraising projects were introduced by the chapter’s Ways and Means Committee. Details on both will be presented at the November meeting. An intra-chapter fundraiser was also announced: members of the late Dorothy Barrigar Williamson’s family have donated some of her handcrafted projects which will be displayed and on sale, also at the November meeting.
Three members were named to attend the National TTT Convention, which was held Oct. 23 via Zoom.
