Marshall County Ike’s hold October board meeting

The meeting of the Marshall County Ike’s Board was opened at 6:05 p.m. on Oct. 13 with a recitation of the Ike’s pledge. Thirteen members were present.

The August Minutes were reviewed and a motion to approve them was made by Ed Moore and seconded by Bob Backes. The board approved.

The August Treasurer’s Report was reviewed and a motion to approve was made by Dick Kelly and seconded by Lana Bradstream. The board approved. The September Treasurers Report was reviewed and a motion to approve was made by Chuck Strobbe and seconded by Backes. The board approved.

Backes reported that Ike’s currently have 290 members and there were a few more applications submitted to him at the meeting. He informed members that Ike’s received an award certicificate from the Ike’s national for 100 percent membership retention. A short discussion of how to find projects or events to keep members interested followed.

The Sporting Clays shoot on Oct. 3 was a success with more than 40 shooters participating. The food truck thought it was on the low end of sales but expressed interest in coming again. The suggestion has been made that Ike’s buy a couple of automatic throwers to make the courses more flexible and easier to run. Shannon Jelken will research.

The board discussed the need to repair the well pump. It was decided to table this until spring. Other electrical problems in the clubhouse were noted. Circut 6 tripping breaker, and the electric on demand hot water heater has stopped working. (this was fixed a few days after the meeting by repairing the wall switch.)

The board discussed the need for a spare aerator pump for the pond. With the low water level any failure could result in a winter fish kill. Moore will look into replacement pumps.

Pricing on Christmas Trees was discussed. Chuck Strobbe moved it be changed to $50 per tree. Seconded by Bradstreet. The board approved with one opposed vote. Backes will investigate ordering 300 more trees for planting this spring.

There is one remaining Clubhouse rental on Oct. 30-31, then the clubhouse will be closed.

All other Committies had nothing new to report.

The next board meeting will be on Nov. 10. Jon Nunez will look at securing the conservation center for the meeting.

The board meeting adjourned at 6:57 p.m.

Starting at $4.38/week.
