TAMA — The Third District American Legion Spring Conference, Department of Iowa, was held on March 19 with Legion members hosted by District Commander Jeff Large, of Tama, meeting at the Tama Post #73 home. The American Legion Auxiliary members were welcomed at the Toledo Post Home #72 by District President Sandy Scallon, of Ackley.

The Auxiliary meeting was opened in form as it welcomed several special guests including State President Doris Jackson, of Lorimor. Informative reports were given by Department officers present from the Department office and membership as well as from Iowa Veterans Home Reps.

District Junior Activities Chairman, Veronica Daniels, reported that for lack of other Units bringing Junior members to the District Junior Conference scheduled for April 3 at Gladbrook, the meeting has been canceled. Plans are to have a field day event planned for District Juniors by Gladbrook this summer. Watch the District Clipper for details. District Junior President Maya Goos, of Gladbrook, will continue to collect items for her project including: xlg, xxlg, xxxlg t-shirts for IVH residents and pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City. Get these items to the Gladbrook or Conrad Unit. Units are encouraged to activate Junior members so this District program may be continued. Let Daniels know of Unit plans.

The Iowa Veterans Home covid mask restrictions and vaccination requirements have been lifted for visitors though entry checks will still be done. Many of the activities as crafts and field trips are being restarted for the residents, bingo games, luncheons, Spring Carnival are again on the activities calendar. The gift shop will be open again, just push the door buzzer and someone will check temperature for entry.
