Ave Maria Study Club holds April meeting

The Ave Maria Study Club met on April 8 with Acting President Rose Ann Jero leading the meeting. The meeting opened with praying the Rosary led by Jean Miller for members unable to attend due to health issues and for the people suffering in war-torn Ukraine. Refreshments followed served by hostesses Helen Ramsey, Joan Studts and Carol Paxon.

The program was a follow-up discussion to the “Pay it Forward” program from the March meeting led by Studts and Ramsey with members telling of the reactions they received to the acts of kindness or unexpected expressions of appreciation to someone, either a friend or a stranger. Members reported very positive reactions from those that they helped or reached out with unexpected kindness.

As a continuation of the Study Clubs’ study of Mary through her different titles, apparitions or works of art, Jero spoke of the Miraculous Medal which she was given when she was young. Originally called the Medal of the Immaculate Conception, it is called the Miraculous Medal as a result of numerous accounts of miracles associated with it after it was designed by Catherine Laboure’ after she experienced an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Paris France in 1830.

The May meeting will be held on May 13 in the Madonna Room featuring a May Crowning.
