Laurel Auxiliary holds March Post #635 meeting

LAUREL — The Harold McBroom Laurel American Legion Auxiliary Post #635 met at the Laurel Legion Home on March 16, with eight members present. Laura Tribby opened the meeting with prayer.

Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance, stood in silence for POW’s, MIA’s and deceased veterans. Members recited the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The treasurers report was given and approved and accepted for audit.

Since the Christmas swap was such a success that the unit had in November of 2021 the unit voted to have another one in November 2022. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 5. The public can bring in gently used Christmas decorations Nov. 3-4.

LaDonna Runner attended the Spring Conference and reported that the Laurel Unit will host the Spring Conference on March 11, 2023.

A new water heater was donated by Gary Howard and installed by Craig Hawkins at no charge to replace the one that went bad in the Legion building. Two new stoves were donated by SoMa winter market along with a new microwave and two roasters. Hawkins also wired up the stoves free of charge. The Laurel unit is extremely grateful to these people for their generosity.

It was voted and approved to have Schendel Pest Control come and give an estimate on the wasp problem and mouse problem at the Legion Home.

Sue Sharer was given a pin for joining the Auxiliary.The Unit will meet at the Legion Home on April 30 to make May Baskets to be delivered on May Day.

A closing prayer was given by Tribby and the meeting was adjourned.
