Sigma Master holds luncheon, business meeting

Sigma Master Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi met on April 12 at the home of Alice Nicholson for lunch with the officers providing the meal for seven members and one guest.

President Diane Hobson opened the meeting thanking the host. Meeting opened with various health issues for some. Minutes of the March meeting were read and approved, along with Barb Noid giving the treasurer’s report.

A request from BCLUW Foundation for $25 was received, discussed and motion to decline was made as it’s not in the service project budget. It was voted to donate to MCD flower basket as the annual donation. Dues of $20 was again agreed to be paid in May by 12 members.

Bonnie Speas reported information on member Liz Wood being a patient at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center, concluding a “Thinking of You” card would be sent. The annual record review was received from International, and a Member at Large notation for Wood will be submitted for correction, with office held for each to be returned by May 1. No one expressed interest in going to the 2022 State Convention in Des Moines that is to be held June 20-22.

In accordance with Founder’s Day, a letter from Laura Ross Wingfield was read by Nicholson. The letter gave us hope for a healthy future as this year’s theme “90 Years to Shine” has been difficult due to Covid-19. Sisters have been there for members throughout the last two years as the pandemic has been kept at arms length. The theme for 2022-23 will be “Friends at Your Fingertips.”

With the meeting closing, Jan Keller has agreed to host the May 10 meeting at her home.
