Ave Maria Study Club closes year with May Crowning

The Ave Maria Study Club held its May 13 meeting in the Madonna Room at St. Henry Church featuring a May Crowning where a statue of Mary is crowned with a garland or crown of flowers honoring her as “the Queen of May.”

There were 13 members and two guests in attendance. Acting President Rose Ann Jero led the meeting. Refreshments followed the May Crowning served by hostesses Thonia Chua, Gerry Best and Betty Pieper. Jero then gave a summary of club happenings during the last year, followed by several members sharing a favorite image of Mary with the group.

Plans were made for the last meeting of this year which will begin with lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Tremont on June 10, followed by a short meeting to elect officers for the next year which resumes in September. A Nominating Committee to select the slate of nominees for officers and a Program Committee to schedule programs for the upcoming year were selected.

Ave Maria Study Club will again meet in the Madonna Room at St. Henry when they resume in September. Ave Maria members will attend the 4:30 p.m. Mass at St. Henry Church on June 11 to mark the close of the year.
