On behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Iowa, JoAnn Klein of Conrad ALA Unit 681 presented Hailey Klein the Good Deed Award, which is presented in recognition of a good deed, community service or humanitarian contribution — celebrating service, not self.
Over the past few years, Hailey has been an avid volunteer. During this time, she could be seen at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, assistant coach for Fairfax Little League baseball and soccer, and Miracles in Motion. In addition, Hailey was a member of Conrad Junior Auxiliary, FFA, church youth group and 4-H, in which she attended leadership camp.
As a junior auxiliary member, Hailey made posters for various auxiliary and junior auxiliary events and donated items for the residents at the Iowa Veterans Home. One could say Hailey was active. Attending Girls State solidified Hailey’s desire to give back to veterans and the community by writing letters to veterans and servicemen.
