The Marshalltown philanthropic group 100 Women Who Care will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Elmwood Country Club, 1734 Country Club Lane. All area women are invited to attend. Members may nominate local charities or projects for the membership to vote on. The entire donation from the group will go to the cause the membership selects. 100 Women’s most recent donation was to Catholic Heart Work Camp in the amount of $13,070. The project was nominated by member Elly Mack, right in photo. She presented the donation to CJ Scales, left and Bethany Jablonski, center, managers of the volunteer project. Catholic Heart Work Camp brought 200 high schoolers and adults to the Marshalltown community for five days in July to do interior and exterior home projects for Marshalltown residents unable physically or financially to complete the needed work. Some of the repairs were to fix tornado or derecho damage. Other work completed included construction of two handicap ramps for citizens needing better access to homes. In all, 32 teams completed 46 projects to better the community.
