Ave Maria Study Club dedicates 2022-23 year to Priests
The Ave Maria Study Club met In the Madonna Room at St. Henry Church on Oct. 14 starting with praying the Rosary followed by refreshments served by the hostesses, Geri Best and Betty Pieper.
Since the 2022-23 Ave Maria year is dedicated to Priests, the members then shared something about a favorite or memorable priest in their lives. This was followed by watching the second part of the YouTube video, “The Making of a Catholic Priest” produced by Bishop Robert Barrons’ “Word on Fire Institute” about the life of Fr. Stephen Gadberry and his development in becoming a priest.
Co-president Rose Ann Jero reported attending the Oct. 8 American Council of Catholic Women meeting and spoke of a presentation by Coleen Pasnick, manager of Mary’s Inn in Dubuque, a maternity home where young mothers and their child can stay for two years if needed, but they must follow very strict rules of no drugs and they must take total responsibility for the daily care of the child.
The hostesses were thanked for serving and the meeting closed with A Prayer for Priests.
The next meeting will be Nov. 11 with Joan Studts and Helen Ramsey as hostesses.
