St. Rita’s Club begins new year

St. Rita’s Study Club met on Sept. 22, at the home of Carol Paxson. She was assisted by Carol Jansen and Regina Petersohn.

President Joyce Sanders welcomed 15 members and three guests to the first meeting of the 2022-23 year. Treasurer Denise Holubar reported that a memorial donation was received from the family of Janet Mead who was a long time St. Rita’s member. Patty Bowman asked for volunteers to drive for Meals on Wheels. Sanders reported that welcome packets will be given to new members of St. Rita’s. She also said that some members of St. Rita’s volunteered for the Catholic Heart Work Camp that was held in Marshalltown over the summer and that the camp will be back next year.

At the conclusion of the business meeting, Paxson led a discussion on the introduction and the first chapter of the book “The Eight Doors of the Kingdom” which is the group’s study for this year. The first chapter was The Poor in Spirit.
